Mooting Program

UTS Law supports a extensive mooting competition program both nationally & internationally as an opportunity for students to gain an international perspective on their courses and careers. Mooting is an exciting way to gain high level courtroom skills, research experience and is fully funded by the faculty (incl. airfares, accommodation & competition expenses).

Applications are open to all students who meet the academic requisites for the moots. Short listed applicants will be interviewed by a academic panel who assess each applicant on the basis of academic merit, research skills and/or oral advocacy skills. Successful applicants will then be invited to join a moot team.

Several months of preparation is required to participate in a mooting competition. The team members are required to prepare written memorials consisting of submissions for the applicant and the respondent and also participate in intensive advocacy training prior
to the oral rounds of the competition.

Participation in some mooting teams may be counted as a credit towards your degree.

Each year the faculty recognises the achievements of the mooting teams at our annual Awards Ceremony.
