International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot

The International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot Competition is a competition for law students, either undergraduate or postgraduate. Students from all countries are eligible.

The subject area for this moot is Maritime Arbitration Law, the moot problem typically involves a commercial shipping dispute which is to be determined by an arbitral panel according to the LMAA Terms (2002). The problem is designed to incorporate difficult but practical issues of arbitration law as well as issues of substantive maritime law.

The competition is held in July each year and has in the past been held in Brisbane, Singapore, Sydney and Hong Kong. In 2005, it was hosted by UTS.

The 2008 International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot Competition will be organised and hosted by Murdoch University School of Law in Perth from 27 June to 1 July 2008.

A team of up to 4 students is chosen to represent UTS.

Academic Requisite:

To take part in this moot, it is essential that you have completed
Law of Contract and Law of Tort.

The team is coached by Angus Macinnis.
