For UTS: Law courses, credit recognition (CR), subject exceptions due to previous studies may be granted. For UTS: Law courses, CR is not granted for work experience.

The Faculty decision upon receiving your application and documents is final.

When to apply

Applications for CR for UTS: Law courses must be made to the Building 5 - Haymarket student centre:

  • when accepting your offer, and
  • prior to your enrolment.
    If your CR is not approved and recorded on your study plan, you will encounter delays with enrolment.

Processing time

For subjects:

  • included on the precedent list have already been assessed
    processing time will be five (5) business days.
  • not included on the precedent list will need to be assessed
    processing time will be up to fifteen (15) business days.

Application requirements

The documentation requirements to support your CR application vary depending on the type of subject you are apply for CR for.

If you are seeking CR for subjects:

  • On the UTS: Law precedent list

    If you are seeking CR for law subjects on the Precedent List, you will need to submit the items below to the Building 5 - Haymarket student centre:

    • A completed UTS CR application form.
    • A certified copy of your academic transcript.
  • That are law subjects not on UTS: Law precedent list

    If you are seeking CR for law subjects not on the Precedent List, you will need to submit the items below to the Building 5 - Haymarket student centre:

    • A completed UTS CR application form.
    • A certified copy of your academic transcript.
    • A detailed subject outline i.e. indicating the contact hours per week, coverage of the subject, topics discussed per week, assessment structure, reference and reading materials. The subject outline should be current at the time of the subject being studied.
  • That are non-law subjects

    If you are seeking CR for non-law block subjects, you will need to submit the items below to the Building 5 - Haymarket student centre:

    • A completed UTS CR application form.
    • A certified copy of your testamur or academic transcript indicating the qualification awarded. Please specify the amount of credit points (up to a maximum of 48cp) of CR that you are seeking.
  • Previously completed UTS subjects

    If you are seeking credit for applicable subjects previously completed at UTS, you will need to submit the items below to the Building 5 - Haymarket student centre:

    • A completed UTS CR application form.
    • You do not need to submit a certified copy of your academic transcript.
