Legal Ethics for the Compliance Driven Practitioner

Seminar:

A brief update for the modern lawyer who needs to comply with the demands of a busy legal practice. Young practitioners may not be aware of just how many ethical pitfalls lie in waiting, or how obliquely an ethics issue can rise up and bite the unwary practitioner. How to resolve the conflict between a practitioner's duty to the court, the client and/or the public, yet still properly executive one's overriding fiduciary duty, maintain confidentiality and legal professional privilege.

Presenter:

Michael Murphy BA, LLB

Michael was admitted as a solicitor in 1977. He was a principal in his law practice until 2001, thereafter he has acted in various locum positions including the Practice Department at the Law Society of New South Wales. Michael has extensive experience both as a practitioner and a teacher of law subjects at TAFE since 1993 and at UTS since autumn 2007. Michael's presentation skills have been enhanced by his skills as a Toastmaster (CTM-B) since 2000.
