Academic Profile

Lesley Townsley joined the Faculty as a full-time Associate Lecturer in August 2004, having taught casually during the previous semester. Before studying law and joining the Faculty, she worked as a drug and alcohol educator for the NSW Health Department.

Lesley primarily teaches Criminal Law in the undergraduate program and Advocacy in the Practical Legal Training Program. Her primary research interests are in criminal law and legal theory.

Lesley graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney with First Class Honours and is currently undertaking a Master of Laws by research at the University of Sydney. Lesley's thesis is entitled "Unchain my Heart: Emotional Variables and Ethical Issues in the Practice of Criminal Law". She has recently completed her Graduate Certificate in Higher Education and Learning and is currently Chair of the Faculty's Admissions Committee.
