Academic Profile

Dr John Felemegas joined the Faculty in 2003, teaching principally in the areas of Equity and Trusts and International Sale of Goods.

A former student of the University of Sydney, he completed his doctoral studies at the University of Nottingham, England in 2000.  His research subject was 'the proper interpretation of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, 1980 (CISG)'. The CISG provides the uniform law for the international sale of goods and it is arguably the most significant piece of contract legislation at international level, having been adopted worldwide by States that account for more than two-thirds of total world trade.

Dr Felemegas is also a Fellow of the Institute of International Commercial Law at Pace University, New York and participates regularly as judge in the annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vienna and Hong Kong) organised by the Pace Institute. In 2006, he taught in an intensive Diploma course in International Commercial Arbitration, organized by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Australian Branch); UNSW;  and ACICA (Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration).

John is a member of the 2003 NSW Attorney-General's Working Party to enquire into the law and practice relating to Conflicts of Interest in N.S.W.
