Academic Profile
Angela Dwyer joined the Faculty in 2005, having previously taught at La Trobe University. Prior to lecturing Angela practiced as Barrister and Solicitor in Victoria & NSW for 18 years. As a Lecturer, Angela teaches principally in the areas of Environmental Law and Contracts.
Angela is the Law Faculty's Academic Liaison Officer and also a UTS Assistant Student Ombud.
Her particular research interest is in the area of Biodiversity Conservation and she is a doctoral candidate at ANU, with her thesis area being 'the use of precaution in the species listing process'.
On a practical level, Angela was one of the founders and co-ordinator of the Sandy Creek Land Care Group (Albury), which conducted a substantial rehabilitation and regeneration project spanning 12 years. She has been involved in the Mutton Bird surveys in Bass Strait and the conservation research on the Pacific Gull and is an active participant of the National Parks Association Biodiversity Survey Program which contributes data to the NSW Wildlife Atlas.
Angela is a scientific member of the Royal Zoological Society of New South Wales and a supporter of Humane Society International. She has published and delivered conference papers in the areas of world trade and quarantine regulation; threatened species listing priorities and processes; and the implementation of the precautionary principle in environmental regulation, weed regulation and enforcement of environmental law.
