About UTS: LAW

Commitment to Quality

The Faculty of Law's commitment to quality is aligned with the
UTS Mission, Planning & Quality pursuits and subscribes to the UTS quality management cycle -  Plan, Do, Review and Improve (PDRI).

Reinforced by the Faculty Mission Statement and continuing development of a distinctive faculty teaching and research endeavour, commitment to equity and diversity remains paramount and in particular continuing support for indigenous students and interaction with Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning.

The faculty's strategic plan is aligned to the UTS Strategic Plan 2005 - 2008 and each year the faculty reviews its progress in order to position itself for the immediate future and to ensure that its priorities are still directed to meeting the over-arching university themes and objectives.

Student Feedback Surveys

As part of the UTS Quality Tracking System, the Planning and Quality Unit coordinates a range of surveys to monitor quality, these include student satisfaction surveys and student feedback surveys. The Faculty of law participates in the collection of data for these important surveys. The results of the Student Feedback Survey for Spring 2007 gives detailed information on levels of student satisfaction with teaching in the Law Faculty. The top-rated subjects are a combination of core and electives, and many of the best-rated teachers are also those whose research informs their teaching. Individual teacher's ratings will be discussed with them as part of work planning during the current semester.

In 2008 the Law Faculty welcomes some outstanding new academic staff to strengthen our teaching and research profile. We are also implementing a major curriculum review aimed at ensuring the UTS Law degree remains highly relevant in the 21st Century.
